Walking For Weight Loss - Is it Worth the Effort?
By Sarah K Wright

When you were a toddler, safe in your mother's arms, your greatest wish would have been to walk from one end of the room to the other with those God-given, teeny-weeny feet. But today that you have developed over the years and height, there's nothing you would rather not do to avoid using those legs.

Simply said, no one wishes to walk these days. They would rather slump behind the wheel or skate across distances than walk a a few strides at least to remind themselves that they were born with legs which can be put to use.

Perhaps it's the simpleness of the deed that has brushed away walking as a routine workout that did nobody any good. Even when jogging won the prize as the world's most loved fat-burning activity, no one considered walking for weight loss.

Thankfully, the world did not take too long to give walking its due credit. Awareness and substantial proof has catapulted this basic necessity into the workout of the twenty-first century. Walking for weight loss is at last being taken seriously.

On the contrary, walking within the confines of four walls denies you all the above mentioned possibilities for effective health. When you are walking for weight loss, remember to maintain a brisk yet comfortable pace for at least 30 minutes, three times a week. A lazy stroll should not be your definition of a workout.
