Life Coaching - What is it All About?
By Crystal Chaney
Life coaching is for people who are looking for a non-therapeutic approach to improving their life. People who feel like they can do better things, who want radical improvements in the way they are living their lives, and the day to day experiences they are having. A life coach is a professional, trained in helping their clients to see their potential, and attain new personal bests they sometimes did not even know they had in them.
Often, life coaching is for someone who is feeling like they are in a rut, or have goals that they just do not think they can achieve on their own. Life coaches are looking to untap their client's hidden potential through their expert advice and insight.
People get busy. With so many things to do in their fast paced life, it is often very easy to put themselves and their goals on the back burner. With life coaching, the client is putting themselves in the forefront of their own life. Because of this, the things that they want to do, happen.
Anything a client can do, they can do faster and better with a coach! This may sound biased, but think of it this way, if you had someone whose entire job was to help their client achieve the things that they wanted, it would be awfully hard for that client to continue to not take an active role in achieving their goals.
Life coaches are not doing the work for their client's. They are there to help their client's realize their potential and aid them in remembering that even if other things in their life are important, they have to make themselves a priority and consciously be aware that there are things they want out of life.
Life coaches can assist a client in many ways to Give them the support they need to achieve the things they want. Whether it be that they are trying to find their true Self, they want a new career path, they have a specific goal (or many), or they just need a jump start into working on a plethora of things, life coaches can help their client's to be true to their Self.
So how do life coaches help? First, they ask their clients a lot of questions. These questions will assess where they are in their life, where they want to be, what drives them, what makes them happy, and what does not. They take this information and help them to map out where they want to go and what will and will not get them there. After that, life coaches help in unleashing the potential that is pent up inside of them and guide them towards greatness. Think of a life coach as a rudder. The client is a plane flying around in the sky. They may not be going in the direction they actually want to be. Life coaches help their client's to figure out what path it is they do want to be on, turn them in the right direction, then guide them to a safe and secure landing at the place they want to be. A life coach can be a rudder for as many or as few goals in a client's life as they want help in achieving.
